Gomes could cost Barcelona €70m

Add-on clauses and player exchanges ramp up deal

Barcelona are expected to count the cost of Andre Gomes' signing with Valencia preparing to reap as much as €70 million from the transfer.
Gomes has agreed to join the current La Liga champions in a deal that could surpass the record-breaking fee which Los Che received in the €48m sale of Gaizka Mendieta to Lazio in 2001.
An initial fixed fee of €35m from Barcelona for the Portuguese midfielder is set to be supplemented with a further €20m paid in installments.
Should the performance-related clauses in Gomes' contract be met during his time at the Camp Nou, Valencia would receive a further €15m.
In addition to the potentially landmark fee, the club will also see the deal's value further boosted by the arrival of two Barcelona players as makeweights.
Martin Montoya and Cristian Tello remain the most likely duo to move to the Estadio de Mestalla but Sergi Samper may also be under consideration due to Gomes' arrival seeing the Catalan club's midfield becoming increasingly overstocked.
