Zidane: We are not going to make signings for the sake of it

The victory over Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup displayed the outstanding atmosphere currently in the Real Madrid dressing room, and despite the club's reputation for lavish spending in the transfer window, Zinedine Zidane insists that he will not feel obliged to splash the cash in the market.

If Real's pre-season has established anything, it is that there are a number of players from the Castilla academy that are ready to play important squad roles and that the unity in the squad is as strong as ever.

Such is Madrid's stature and potential spending power that links to players druing the transfer window are inevitable, but Zidane has made himself clear. "We are not going to signings for sake of signings, "he said.

"If we miss Cristiano [ Ronaldo ], [ Karim ] Benzema or [ Gareth ] Bale, we have Lucas [ Vazquez ], [ Marco ] Asensio, [ Alvaro ] Morata, James [ Rodriguez ] and Isco,"detailed the French coach when highlighting his squad's strength.

One thing that is critical to Zidane's outlook is the atmosphere in his dressing room and given how smoothly Alvaro Morata has integrated back into the club, Real do not want to risk doing anything that may upset the current mood.

With less talk about any possible incomings, the club are more concerned over the possible departures of James Rodriguez and Isco.

Despite Zidane wanting to keep both at the club, the rise of Asensio may push one or both down the pecking order and Los Blancos need to address the situation delicately.
