Barcelona complete Cillessen signing

Goalkeeper moves after five years with Ajax

On the back of Ajax's crushing 4-1 defeat against Rostov, Jasper Cillessen has already completed his medical and signed  for Barcelona, ending the speculation surrounding the identity of Claudio Bravo's replacement.

The Dutch goalkeeper endured a rough farewell with the Eredivise club, who were eliminated from this year's UEFA Champions League in the last round of qualifying.

Soon after the final whistle, Cillessen took a flight to Barcelona, arriving early in the morning on the Catalan coast.

La Blaugrana have committed to pay 13 million euros with 2m euros in add-ons for a player who garnered international attention when Louis Van Gaal decided to give him the Netherlands' custodianship at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, yet decided to substitute him for Tim Krul ahead of the quarter-final penalty shoot-out against Costa Rica.

Having already published the news to his official social media, Cillessen's transfer was then confirmed by Barcelona, who've embedded a 60m euro release clause in the keeper's contract.

The 27-year-old, who is expected to be presented at the Camp Nou on Friday, enjoyed five campaigns with the Amsterdam-based team after spending his early years at his home club NEC Nijmegen.

Meanwhile, the agreement  between Barcelona and Manchester City regarding Bravo's transfer is expected to be made official shortly.
