Samir Nasri is expected to hold clear-the-air talks with new Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola to determine his future at the club.
The Frenchman joined City from Arsenal in 2011 and has gone on to make 128 appearances for the club, although injuries limited him last season and have put his future with the Premier League outfit in doubt.
With Guardiola set to arrive this summer, the Spanish tactician has already brought in Ilkay Gundogan and is expected to make further changes to the squad as he looks to create a group capable of fitting into his system and ideas as well as playing his style of football.
According to The Sun, Nasri is desperate to be a part of that process as he has a strong desire to play under the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss, and is keen to reach an agreement where he is given 12 months to prove his worth.
That in turn may lead to a positional switch for the 28-year-old, as he is unlikely to be deployed on the wing given the characteristics and qualities that Guardiola prefers in those positions, which ultimately could lead to a deeper-lying midfield role.
To his credit, it is noted that Nasri is currently keeping himself fit after being snubbed for Euro 2016, as he is aiming to be in top condition for the start of pre-season training.
Whether or not he can impress Guardiola with his words off the pitch and his actions on it remains to be seen, but the City boss certainly has a tough job on his hands as Nasri isn’t likely to be the only individual desperate to stay at the Etihad next season.
