Manchester United and Chelsea will reportedly go head-to-head in the race to sign Antoine Griezmann.
The French superstar recently signed a new contract with Atletico Madrid, taking his release clause to £84m.
But United are understood to be willing to smash their transfer record again to land him if a bidding war ensues.
And now the Telegraph claim Chelsea will rival any move the Red Devils make for the 25-year-old.
BATTLE: Antoine Griezmann
Meanwhile both clubs have been handed a boost in pursuit of Griezmann.
The forward admitted earlier this week that he was happy at Atletico - but only for along as Diego Simeone was in charge.
And Spanish papar EL Confidencial claim the Argentine has decided to leave Atletico Madrid at the end of the 2017/18 season.
United are also said to be serious in their pursuit of Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale.
Catalan outlet Sport say Jose Mourinho is willing to table a bumper deal worth about £17m-per-year to lure the Welsh winger to Old Trafford next summer.
And they insist Jonathan Barnet, Bale's agent, hasn't created the story to try and get a better contract for his client at the Bernabeu.
